The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Spirit of Kings released Intuition in 2022, working with perfumer Christian Provenzano. The name speaks to the nature of the fragrance itself, a composition built around trusting the first impression rather than second-guessing it. Provenzano structured Intuition as a progression from sharp initial impact to a warm, lasting foundation, using materials that reward immediate attention rather than patient study. The brand's Spanish roots inform the composition's boldness, translating a royal court sensibility into something that commands a room rather than whispers in it.
Provenzano chose these specific notes to create a fragrance that moves from bold to Intimate. The saffron opening acts as an immediate declaration, unmissable and confident. The heart of violet leaf and geranium grounds that boldness with structure, preventing the composition from becoming one-dimensional. The base, anchored in oud and vanilla with supporting warmth from benzoin and amber, ensures longevity and a drydown that lingers long after the initial impression fades. Cedar needles and cypriol add subtle complexity that rewards closer attention, making Intuition a fragrance that reveals new facets with wear.
The evolution
Intuition begins with a crackling burst of saffron that sits front and center, surrounded by cardamom, ginger, and coriander in a warm, aromatic cluster. Cedar needles appear almost immediately, adding a faint resinous bite that prevents the opening from feeling purely sweet. Within fifteen minutes, the composition shifts: violet leaf emerges as a cool, watery counterpoint, and geranium introduces a structured green-floral quality. Jasmine and rose join to round out the heart, offering sweetness without softness. The transition to the base unfolds over two hours, beginning with oud as a dark, woody anchor. Vanilla and sandalwood soften the oud's edges, while castoreum adds an Intimate animalic warmth. Benzoin, amber, musk, vetiver, and cypriol complete the drydown, creating a lingering warmth that feels resinous and earthy rather than sweet. This arc from spice to florals to resin makes Intuition a fragrance that reveals itself in layers, rewarding attention at every stage.
Cultural impact
Intuition sits comfortably in the warm-spicy, animalic-resinous space that appeals to wearers who want a fragrance with genuine character. The 10+ hour longevity and strong sillage make it a statement piece, something worn for the long haul rather than a quick impression. It's not trying to please everyone, and that's exactly the appeal.
