The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Amity joined Spirit of Kings' catalogue with a name borrowed from an older word for friendship, the bonds Aristotle described as requiring people to share good times and bad. Christian Provenzano composed the fragrance as a floral fruity gourmand, a category that trades intensity for something gentler, softer, and harder to fake than the usual sugar-bomb constructions. The Compassion Collection framing ties it to that idea: scent as a way to articulate affection between people who matter to each other. Provenzano built the composition around the sweetness of strawberries as a symbol of harmony, layering the fruit with rose, jasmine, and a warm, musky base that suggests intimacy rather than performance.
What's interesting here is the structural composition. Provenzano weaves Bulgarian rose, Egyptian jasmine, and orris root at the heart, materials with serious floral weight. That core keeps the composition grounded. Meanwhile saffron at the top adds a slightly earthy, almost spicy note that prevents the opening from reading as simple candy. Sandalwood and benzoin anchor the base, lending the drydown a creamy, resinous backbone. The sugar is real, not implied, but the architecture around it earns its place.
The evolution
First thirty minutes are a sugar-fruit collision. Strawberry arrives first, almost candied, with pineapple snapping right behind it. Bergamot lifts the edges so it doesn't go flat. Saffron sits underneath everything, doing the slow work of adding depth to what would otherwise be a bright, uncomplicated opening. Around the one-hour mark, the florals step forward. Bulgarian rose and Egyptian jasmine arrive together, and the orris root does what orris does: powders the composition, gives it a soft, cosmetic blur. The fruit doesn't vanish; it just stops being the loudest voice. By hour three, the base has settled in. Raspberry reappears, darker this time, and the benzoin wraps around it like warm resin. Sandalwood smooths everything, and the vanilla and sugar become one continuous sweetness rather than distinct notes. The moss and musk hold the whole structure close to skin.
Cultural impact
Amity sits in a space where gourmand sweetness meets genuine floral and resinous construction, the kind of blend that reads as a considered composition rather than a simple sugar accord. The fragrance offers warmth, generosity, and a sweetness that holds its shape through a full day of wear. Part of the Compassion Collection within Spirit of Kings' catalogue, it represents the friendship-themed chapter of the brand's thematic arc, softer in emotional register than the loyalty or valor-framed compositions elsewhere in the line.
