The beginning
Premium Status is a 2025 release from Richard. Christian Provenzano composed this one, and the name points toward something specific: status as a feeling, not a label. Citrus aromatic compositions lean either polite or aggressive. Provenzano aimed squarely for the second one. The opening is a deliberate overload, twelve top notes stacked into a single statement. Grapefruit, petitgrain, lime, mandarin, bergamot, peppermint, apple, orange, cardamom, anise, elemi, and black pepper all arriving in the same breath. It reads less like a fragrance opening and more like someone pushing through a door already mid-conversation. The sheer density of that opening alone sets the tone, because most compositions work with far fewer ingredients at the top and rely on a gradual reveal.
What defines the opening here is the sheer density of the top. Twelve notes stacked simultaneously is unusual for a citrus aromatic, and the result is an immediate, unfiltered burst that doesn't build gradually. The evolution
The first fifteen minutes are a controlled riot. Grapefruit hits first, bright and acidic, but it has company. Bergamot rounds it out, lime sharpens the edges, and the mandarin brings a sweeter undertone. Almost immediately the peppermint arrives, cool and slightly mentholated, cutting through the citrus stack like a window cracked open in a warm room. Then the cardamom and black pepper emerge underneath, giving the opening a warm-spiced spine that prevents it from collapsing into a simple cologne splash. The citrus blend softens over the next thirty minutes. Petitgrain adds a green, almost bitter leafy quality that shifts the opening from pure brightness to something more aromatic. Anise and elemi surface briefly, adding a resinous, slightly sweet dimension that most people catch subconsciously rather than name. The florals take over around the one-hour mark. Jasmine is the dominant voice here, but it reads clean and soapy rather than indolic, shaped by the neroli and lily of the valley beside it.
