The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Verônica Kato designed Kriska Encanto for Natura in 2014, naming it for the Portuguese word for charm and enchantment. Her intention: a fruity, floral oriental that captures the warmth of Brazilian summer, ripe plum, tropical florals, and a vanilla base that stays close to skin. The name carries the brand's cultural register, that sense of natural beauty that doesn't need to try hard to be magnetic.
The real star is the base. Vanilla and tonka bean create a warm, sweet anchor that defines the drydown. Combined with soft sandalwood and musk, it becomes something powdery and intimate. The florals, gardenia, freesia, jasmine, magnolia, orchid, build a white-floral heart that feels lush without being heavy. The Amazon lily note grounds the composition in Brazilian botanical heritage, a nod to Natura's sourcing philosophy. The overall effect: sweet, powdery, warm, comforting in the way good skin feels.
The evolution
The opening is all about fruit, plum and mandarin arriving together, bright and sweet. Within minutes, the citrus fades and the florals begin their slow take-over. Jasmine first, then gardenia. Freesia appears around the 20-minute mark, adding a clean, soapy lift. This phase lasts 2-3 hours, the florals stacking like petals falling onto each other. The drydown is where Kriska Encanto earns its reputation. Vanilla and tonka arrive quietly, then sandalwood settles beneath everything, creating a warm, creamy base that lasts 3-4 more hours. Patchouli adds just enough earth to keep it from becoming purely sweet. The sillage is moderate, it stays close to the skin, intimate rather than announced. People will ask if you're wearing something only when they lean in. On clothes, it lingers for days.
Cultural impact
Kriska Encanto has earned a devoted following across Brazil and Latin America for offering accessible luxury without the European markup. The 2014 launch positioned it for a generation seeking fragrances that felt personal rather than performative. Its sweet, powdery character appeals to those who want warmth and comfort over projection and power. In the Natura catalog, it sits alongside classic orientals, evidence that the brand's Brazilian sensibility can hold its own against any international competition.
