The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
My Twist arrived in 2022 as a statement. The name itself is a declaration, a pivot, a fresh direction. Mauboussin built their fragrance identity on refined elegance and quiet storytelling, and this release channels that Parisian precision into something more accessible without sacrificing character. The house that began as a jeweler on Rue Greneta in 1827 has always understood that the details matter, the cut of a gem, the balance of a note. My Twist applies that same philosophy: bold white florals and fruity brightness in a composition that doesn't hedge its bets.
The real interest here is in the tension. Blackcurrant and mandarin open sharp, almost tart, like biting into fruit before it's ripe. Then the tuberose arrives, unapologetically creamy, taking up space in the heart. It's not subtle. The jasmine and neroli support it, sure, but this is tuberose's show. What keeps it from overwhelming is the vanilla base, it wraps around the florals like a soft conclusion, making sure the sweetness stays warm rather than cloying. The result is a fragrance that's fruity, floral, and unabashedly sweet without losing its elegance.
The evolution
The opening hits fast, blackcurrant and mandarin create an immediate tart-fruity burst that reads almost effervescent. The citrus fades within minutes, leaving the blackcurrant to mellow into something softer. Then the hand-off: tuberose takes over the heart, thick and creamy, its white petals unfurling with an almost narcotic sweetness. Jasmine joins midway, adding richness without tempering the intensity. The drydown arrives quietly, the vanilla doesn't compete, it comforts, settling into warm skin alongside musk that keeps everything intimate and close. On clothing, expect the florals to linger for 10+ hours. On skin, closer to 6-8 hours before it fades to a soft whisper.
Cultural impact
My Twist positions itself as a bridge, offering the warmth and presence of premium floral fragrances at a more accessible price point. For collectors graduating from mass-market options, it delivers Mauboussin's heritage jeweler sensibility without the luxury markup. Its 2022 release fits into a broader trend of niche-inspired flanker releases from heritage houses.
