The beginning
Modern Charm Glam arrived in 2020 from Mary Kay, composed by Leandro Petit through Givaudan. The name does exactly what it says. It's charm with the volume turned higher, the kind of personality that walks into a room already comfortable. Petit built it around a classic feminine structure, citrus-floral-oriental, then loaded it with enough Indonesian patchouli and sandalwood to keep things grounded. The result is bright at the top, lush in the middle, and warm where it matters. The citrus opens with an almost effervescent quality, the kind of brightness that catches light and holds it for a beat before settling into something softer. The florals carry through with intention, neither shy nor overpowering, just present in that effortless way the best compositions manage.
What separates Modern Charm Glam from a dozen other citrus-florals is the weight at the base. Petit didn't stop at the expected floral heart. The Indonesian patchouli does heavy lifting here, bringing a damp, earthy sweetness that anchors the rose and tuberose instead of letting them float off. The evolution
The opening moves fast. Italian bergamot and Orpur® lemon hit together, joined by pink grapefruit and a red fruits accord that reads tart rather than sweet. Then the florals take over, and the whole composition pivots. Damask rose comes in first, followed by iris, which adds a cool, powdery texture, and tuberose, which is the bolder, slightly creamy floral in the mix. Ylang-ylang rounds out the heart with a banana-sweet, almost tropical edge. From there, the base takes time to fully arrive. The Indonesian patchouli shows up earthier and more rooted than expected. The sandalwood softens everything, and the vanilla settles in like an afterthought that decided to stay. The drydown is warm, creamy, and intimate, mostly sandalwood and vanilla with patchouli humming underneath. It survives a shower, still detectable on fabric the next morning as a soft, amber-toned warmth.
