The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Body arrived in 2018, before the Diamond collection made its debut, before the rebrand announcements and the Coty partnership. It was Nicole Mancini's brief from Kim Kardashian to create something with a specific character. The fragrance opens with a bright citrus lift from bergamot and mandarin orange that carries the peach nectar into clean, energetic territory. Pink pepper adds a subtle spiced edge that keeps the sweetness from feeling flat. As the top notes recede, the floral heart emerges with jasmine sambac absolute bringing its characteristic lush, rich floral quality. Turkish rose absolute follows, softening that richness into velvety depth.
What makes the structure interesting is the way the heart holds. Jasmine sambac absolute carries a natural indole that gives florals a living, slightly animal warmth. Turkish rose absolute brings velvety depth rather than sharpness. Between them, ylang-ylang from Moheli extends the heart's duration, creating a creamy, tropical texture that threads through the florals and keeps the heart coherent as it develops. The Orpur designation on both the ylang-ylang and Turkish rose means Givaudan's highest sourcing standard.
The evolution
The opening hits bright. Bergamot and mandarin orange lift the peach nectar into something clean and energetic. Pink pepper adds a faint prickle that keeps the sweetness from going flat. As the top notes fade, jasmine sambac absolute arrives and it is lush, bringing rich floral warmth that fills the space left by the citrus. Turkish rose follows, softening the jasmine's natural richness into something more velvety and rounded. The ylang-ylang extends this phase, adding a creamy, tropical texture that keeps the heart coherent as it evolves. The drydown is where Body earns its name. Australian sandalwood and Haitian vetiver ground the florals into something skin-close. Amber and musk warm the base without adding sweetness, creating an intimate finish that stays close to the skin throughout the wear.
Cultural impact
Body by KKW arrived in 2018 as one of the earliest entries in the KKW Fragrance collection. The launch introduced a warm, powdery floral character with peach nectar and rich jasmine sambac absolute at its core. Turkish rose absolute and ylang-ylang from Moheli create a velvety, extended heart note that gives the fragrance its distinctive floral signature. The composition reflects a deliberate approach to ingredient selection, using traceable naturally derived materials with Orpur certification for key components. Australian sandalwood and Haitian vetiver anchor the base, with amber and musk adding warmth without sweetness.
