The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The Diamond collection arrived in November 2019, introducing three fragrances named after gemstones. Pink Diamond, Yellow Diamond, and Diamond Kim each carry a family connection, each paired with a bottle inspired by the stones themselves. Diamond Kim, named for Kim herself, stands as a white floral built around luminous florals that open with bright, sweet accents before settling into a rich heart of tropical florals. The formula works with Givaudan's Orpur and Cosmors materials, extracts that give the composition structure and depth. The overall effect is one of radiant warmth, a fragrance that feels both accessible and elevated, translating the idea of a gemstone into something you can wear.
What makes Diamond Kim stand apart is the tropical edge running through its floral heart. Most white floral compositions lean creamy and static. Here, ginger and sugar open the top with an unexpected brightness, the same impulse behind a tropical cocktail garnish, not a garden arrangement. The ylang-ylang carries a deeper, more exotic warmth, and when paired with orange blossom absolute, it creates a heart that feels both lush and slightly untamed. The coconut milk base isn't decorative, it keeps the florals grounded and intimate rather than letting them float into the air like potpourri.
The evolution
The opening hits green and immediate, tropical leaves, a sugared ginger note that reads almost effervescent. The florals move in shortly after: ylang-ylang first, thick and cream-thick, then orange blossom absolute filling the spaces between. The sugar doesn't disappear, it stays threaded through, keeping the florals from smelling dated. As time passes, the composition settles. White flowers and white musk blend into something close to skin but warmer, a skin that smells like it was dusted with something sweet. The coconut milk appears here, not as a loud note but as a diffuser, softening everything that came before. On fabric, what remains is a faint warm sweetness, not quite floral, not quite gourmand, just the memory of being in a room where someone was wearing this. The drydown has a powdery softness that lingers pleasantly without overwhelming.
Cultural impact
Diamond Kim arrived in 2019 as part of KKW Fragrance's Diamond collection. The collection features three fragrances: Pink Diamond, Yellow Diamond, and Diamond Kim, each inspired by gemstones and named for family members. Diamond Kim itself is a white floral fragrance with tropical accents, building on the aesthetic established by other KKW Fragrance releases. The Diamond series brought together floral and fruity elements in a way that felt both luxurious and approachable, appealing to those drawn to statement fragrances.
