Why it exists.
The beginning
Dynasty arrived in 2025 from Fabbrica della Musa, a niche house shaped by Barbara Adelmann's vision and the perfumery of Hamid Merati-Kashani. The composition sits in their Exclusive Collection, listed as a unisex fresh-floral. Merati-Kashani constructed Dynasty around a citrus top that refuses to stay polite. Bergamot, mandarin, orange, ginger, melon, and cypress all arrive at once, an opening built on density rather than restraint. The composition moves quickly into a floral heart of neroli, magnolia, jasmine, and a tea accord that gives the middle phase a dry, slightly leafy lift. The base settles into cashmere wood, sandalwood, cinnamon, nutmeg, and patchouli, anchored by Ambroxan and white musk. The juice suggests something lighter than the base implies, but no less considered.
What makes Dynasty worth attention is the decision to lace a floral-spicy structure with both Ambroxan and a fully realized warm-spice base. Dynasty keeps going past the citrus and neroli, layering cashmere wood, sandalwood, cinnamon, nutmeg, and patchouli under the magnolia-jasmine heart. The Ambroxan adds a synthetic smoothness that bridges the opening brightness to the musky drydown, acting as a glue between the airy top and the denser base. The tea accord in the heart keeps the florals from leaning too sweet or too green, adding a tannic edge that gives the composition its own identity.
The evolution
On skin, Dynasty doesn't so much evolve as swap costumes. The first 15 minutes are sharp and immediate: ginger and cypress lift the citrus into something with bite. The melon sits underneath, sweet and cool, and you can pick out each player. Around the 30-minute mark the citrus recedes and the neroli steps forward, joined by magnolia and jasmine. The tea accord lands here too, giving the heart a slightly dry, leafy quality that stops it from turning soapy. This is the prettiest phase, and the one most likely to draw compliments. By hour two the warmth arrives: cashmere wood, sandalwood, a low-grade cinnamon-nutmeg buzz, patchouli threading through without muddying the blend. Ambroxan smooths everything into a soft, slightly synthetic musk that lingers well into the evening. The drydown is mostly cashmere wood and white musk, close to the skin, dry, faintly sweet.
Cultural impact
Dynasty arrives with a structure that leans warmer than its citrus opening suggests. The ginger-cypress top has drawn algorithmic similarity to Electimuss's Imperium and Goldfield & Banks's Ingenious Ginger, placing it in conversation with other spiced-citrus compositions in the niche space. The bottle is described as elegant and modern, letting the juice carry the visual weight. The composition reads as accessible on first spray and more layered with wear, which gives it crossover appeal for those exploring beyond designer mainstures.
