The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Intrepid arrived in 2016, composed by Hernán Figoli with Sandra Casagrande. The name speaks to a kind of forward motion, the kind that doesn't need to announce itself. The composition sets French lavender against the quiet warmth of woods underneath, a contrast that gives the scent its particular shape. The lavender reads cool, almost bracing at first contact, while the base notes anchor the whole thing in something softer, a backdrop that keeps the herbal brightness from feeling brittle. Intrepid reads as a daily companion, a scent built for the version of masculinity that moves without urgency. There's nothing declarative about it. It opens clean and bright, then settles into its wooden backbone within the first hour.
What makes the composition worth a second look is the caliber of ingredients running through it. Italian bergamot Orpur® sits at the top, French lavender Orpur® anchors the heart, and Australian sandalwood Orpur® carries the base. Each of those materials carries the Orpur® designation, a marker tied to specific sourcing partnerships with named growers. The violet leaf does something subtler still: it keeps the lavender from collapsing into something purely herbal, adding a green edge that reads modern and prevents the heart from feeling like a single note stretched thin.
The evolution
The opening belongs to the bergamot and Williams pear, a bright citrus-fruit snap that feels almost effervescent on the skin. That initial burst has a clean, cool quality that announces itself quickly and then starts to shift. The violet leaf arrives early, pulling the temperature down a notch and introducing a watery green that most aromatic fougères skip entirely. It brings a faint metallic coolness, like the first breath you take stepping out of a warm room into cool morning air. Once the lavender takes over the conversation, the composition settles into its cleanest stretch, herbal but never sharp, the way good linen smells when it's just been pulled from the closet. The lotus weaves through the heart as a softener, a cream that prevents the lavender from feeling austere or overly medicinal. Then the composition pivots.
Cultural impact
Intrepid wears like a scent for a man who arrives early and stays late, never drawing attention to itself but always present in the room. The lavender-led aromatic fougère structure makes it instantly legible without being predictable. It's the kind of fragrance you reach for on a Monday morning because nothing about it demands anything of you. The drydown settles into a woody warmth that lasts through the day without needing to be reapplied, which suits someone with a full calendar. There's a quiet confidence running through the composition, a refusal to shout in a category full of louder options.
