Ésika launched in 1975 in Medellín, Colombia, with a philosophy rooted in capturing everyday Colombian moments through scent. By 2019, the house sought to bottle the unexpected joy that surfaces in ordinary routines, naming the fragrance Impredecible to honor spontaneous bursts of happiness. The brand draws on local Colombian inspiration even as it targets global audiences, a tension reflected in Impredecible's combination of bright, tropical fruit notes and warm, resinous drydown materials.
Ésika's note philosophy centers on pairing contrasting elements that would seem unlikely in isolation. Here, tart Grapefruit meets creamy Benzoin, crisp Freesia meets jammy Red Berries. The Pink Pepper and Jasmine pairing creates a deliberate spice-floral tension rarely seen in mass-market fruity florals. Bourbon Vanilla and Caramel ground material that could otherwise feel superficial, while Clearwood offers sustainable woodiness without sharpness. The result reflects Ésika's approach: accessible enough for daily wear, complex enough to reward attention, grounded in Colombian botanicals and international formulation techniques.
The evolution
Grapefruit and Red Berries open the scent with an immediate tart brightness that feels like morning light, transitioning within minutes as Peach introduces velvety sweetness and the opening becomes more lush. Freesia and Jasmine form the heart as a dual floral approach, bringing both crystalline cleanliness and rich, indolic depth. Pink Pepper bridges the transition, adding warmth before Benzoin, Bourbon Vanilla, and Caramel establish a rich creaminess that dominates the drydown. Clearwood and Sandalwood provide the woody anchor while Tonka Bean ties everything together with a sweet, amaretto-like finish.
