The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Autumn Rendezvous landed in 2025 as part of Dossier's Seasons Collection, a series of seasonal releases the brand has put out over the years. Where other entries in the broader Dossier catalog have explored autumn through amber and chestnut warmth, this one goes the other direction, toward the sharp green edge of the season. The official description calls it the ultimate autumn scent to revitalize your senses, evoking a brisk breeze on a hike that clears the mind. That language is direct, and it sets the expectation clearly: cold forest, open air, the moment before you zip your jacket all the way up. The fragrance positions itself less as nostalgia and more as an experience of being outside, lungs full of October.
The composition stacks frankincense against lavender and pine at the heart, which reads almost like incense caught between conifers, while violet adds a cool, powdery shadow underneath. It's a structure that leans hard into the sensation of being outdoors. The top opens with an Air Accord, rosemary, and blackcurrant, a combination designed to keep the introduction crisp and green rather than warm or gourmand. That opening choice does the heavy lifting.
The evolution
The first ten minutes are all air and rosemary, with blackcurrant giving a tart green snap that keeps the green notes from feeling like a lawn. Pine arrives fast, within twenty minutes, and frankincense and lavender come with it, creating a clean, resinous heart that reads colder than you'd expect from something called an autumn scent. By the middle of the wear, the moss and patchouli have started to take over the base, and the cedarwood and sandalwood begin showing up underneath, giving the composition weight. The drydown is where this one earns its keep: what remains in the later hours is moss, fir, and a soft sandalwood, still recognizably the same forest, just deeper into it. Each phase of the wear shifts the temperature, from the bright, cold snap of the opening through the resinous middle and into a woody, earthy close that feels like the trail at dusk.
Cultural impact
Autumn Rendezvous speaks to someone who'd rather smell like a trail than a bonfire, and the green-woody commitment runs through every layer of the composition. It earns its pine-forward character honestly: pine isn't just a note buried in the base, it announces itself early and stays present through the heart, backed by frankincense, lavender, and violet before the moss, patchouli, and woods take over. The result is a fragrance that captures the feeling of being outdoors in autumn, the cold air, the resin on your fingers, the quiet of a forest path.
