Released in 2003 under the Dior banner, Higher Energy arrived as an aromatic composition with a fresh, woody, and spicy harmony at its core. The perfumers credited for the juice are Nathalie Gracia-Cetto and Carlos Viñals, both names appearing in source documentation. Grapefruit, pepper, and vetiver anchor the brief. Luminous and vibrant were the words used to describe the intent in available materials. The grapefruit top opens with a sharp, almost bitter brightness, a citrus that reads more like just-peeled rind than sweetened juice. Black pepper cuts through the opening with a clean, slightly biting heat that lingers at the edges of the fruit.
The unusual move here is layering frankincense into the heart. The resin adds a low incense hum that gives the spice a kind of quiet complexity, turning what could have been a straightforward aromatic into something with a more contemplative undertone. The pepper isn't shy either. Black pepper and nutmeg together carry the composition through its middle phase, keeping the freshness honest without letting it drift into something weightless.
