The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Collistar named it Energia for a reason. Released in 2018, the fragrance was built for the woman who treats her morning routine like a runway and her afternoon like a negotiation. The perfumer kept the structure stripped down to essentials: citrus to wake the skin up, florals to soften the entry, musk and cedar to anchor the landing. Nothing ornate, nothing performative. The citrus hits first, sharp and immediate, like cold water on a warm face. Then the florals slide in underneath, not competing for attention but smoothing the transition into something warmer. The cedar shows up quietly in the base, giving the composition a backbone that holds without weighing anything down. The musk does what musk does best: it softens every edge until the whole thing reads as one continuous breath.
Here, the dominant note is Calabrian bergamot, a citrus that opens with a bright, almost bitter peel before settling into something rounder and more honeyed. Pairing it with petitgrain gives the opening a slightly green, twiggy edge, like the smell of a citrus grove after rain. The petitgrain keeps the bergamot from tipping into pure sweetness, adding a leafy bitterness that grounds the brightness. As the top notes soften, the heart begins to take shape. The freesia introduces a watery coolness, the kind of floral that doesn't announce itself but rather hums in the background.
The evolution
The opening belongs entirely to the citrus quartet: Calabrian bergamot up front, mandarin and sweet orange filling the middle, petitgrain adding a leafy snap underneath. It smells like cutting into an orange with a knife still warm from the sink. The bergamot carries most of the weight at first, but the mandarin soon joins in with a softer, sweeter juice that rounds out the sharper edges. The petitgrain weaves through both, giving the citrus a slightly bitter, herbal undertone that keeps it from reading as purely fruity. As the composition warms on skin, the freesia and jasmine arrive, but they don't bloom the way you'd expect. They arrive cool, almost soapy, like a clean sheet snapping in the wind. The citrus doesn't disappear, it just shares the room.
Cultural impact
Profumo di Energia reads as a daytime fragrance, the kind of scent designed for someone who already has plans and just needs to smell good while executing them. It occupies a specific lane in contemporary perfumery: bright, citrus-forward, clean enough for professional settings but with enough depth to carry into informal evening moments. The composition leans into the kind of freshness that feels current without chasing trends, a straightforward approach that prioritizes wearability over complexity.
