The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Profumo della Felicità translates to 'Scent of Happiness', and Collistar means it literally. Launched in 2011, this fragrance was designed as part of the brand's Benessere della Felicità line, a collection that treats fragrance as skincare for the spirit. The idea: a scent that lifts mood the way sunlight does. It joined Collistar's broader fragrance collection, which takes a distinctly Italian approach, drawing on Mediterranean ingredients and professional-grade formulation while keeping prices accessible for everyday use. This one was built to live on skin, not in a display case. The composition relies on bright citrus to set the tone, letting that initial sparkle do the emotional lifting before the florals arrive to carry the warmth forward.
What makes the structure interesting is the osmanthus-vetiver pairing in the base. Osmanthus, a small flower with an enormous apricot-peach scent, isn't a standard anchor in mainstream florals. It bridges the gap between the fruity heart and the musk finish, adding a rich, almost jam-like depth that gives the composition its distinctive character. Vetiver grounds it with an earthy, slightly smoky finish that anchors the lighter notes above and prevents the whole thing from feeling fleeting.
The evolution
The opening hits bright and stays that way longer than expected. Grapefruit and mandarin arrive together, with mandarin carrying most of the weight, a sweet-tart zestiness that lifts without burning. Water lily adds a cool, almost aquatic shimmer that makes the citrus read cleaner, not sharper. Thirty minutes in, the red currant and pink pepper emerge: tart berries, a whisper of spice, the peony starting to unfurl. The hand-off happens gradually, no dramatic shift, just the citrus stepping back as the florals step forward. By hour two, the composition belongs to the flowers. The drydown is where osmanthus and vetiver take over. The osmanthus keeps its apricot warmth; vetiver adds an earthy, slightly smoky finish that prevents the whole thing from floating away. Musk lingers closest, skin-close, intimate, the kind of warmth someone catches on a handshake or a goodbye hug.
Cultural impact
Profumo della Felicità occupies a space where everyday wearability meets something worth remembering. It appeals to the woman who wants fragrance to feel good, not perform. The vetiver-osmanthus base sets it apart from more conventional fruity-floral compositions, giving it a dryness and depth that keeps the sweetness in check. The overall effect is warm and approachable without tipping into the heavy florals that can overwhelm a room.
