Why it exists.
The beginning
Ylang Feast is part of the Etiqueta Dorada collection. In 2022, perfumer Maximiliano Cifuentes turned to ylang-ylang as the centerpiece for a fragrance named like an event, not a product. A feast is not a snack. It is abundance as intention, pleasure as declaration. The composition takes its inspiration from opulence, from the idea that some fragrances should demand attention rather than whisper for it.
What makes this composition unusual is the ylang-ylang appearing twice in the pyramid, bright and sparkling in the top notes alongside the citrus fruits, then richer and more animalic in the heart with jasmine, mimosa, and geranium. The same flower, two different characters. The citrus opening provides the initial contradiction: something sparkling and almost champagne-like, while underneath the yellow floral wave is already building. This tension between the bright and the rich defines the first hour. Cognac in the base is a deliberate luxury, warm, resinous, with an edge of dried fruit that ties the opening pomegranate to the drydown without sweetness.
The evolution
The opening arrives bright. Bergamot, bitter orange, neroli, a citrus quartet that sparkles before the tropical richness of ylang-ylang takes over, settling into something waxy and intensely floral, almost indolic. This is where the fragrance makes its first demand: are you staying? The heart phase introduces jasmine and mimosa over the still-present ylang-ylang, creating a honeyed floral that is warm and slightly bitter. Clove and coriander provide aromatic spice, while geranium and juniper keep the green notes present. The drydown phase shifts to something more intimate. The animalics emerge here: civet, castoreum, and indole work close to the skin, the kind of presence that reads differently depending on proximity. Some find this confrontational. Others find it the best part.
