The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Find Me - Wild Potion emerged from Adi Ale Van's ongoing dialogue between Eastern spirituality and Romanian earthiness. The name itself is an invitation: find me where the wild horse runs, where honest labor meets raw nature, where ancient forests absorb everything human. Jimmy Bodin composed this as a single unrepeatable creation, the kind of fragrance that can only exist once, using rare tinctures and vintage materials that cannot be sourced again. The composition unfolds like a journey into dense woodland, where forest accord and green foliage arrive first, damp earth beneath your feet, hemp bringing herbal warmth to the initial impression. Passion fruit cuts through unexpectedly, tropical sweetness colliding with white frankincense smoke.
The combination of passion fruit with white frankincense and hemp shouldn't work. Fruit sweetness rarely survives proximity to smoky resin, it either collapses or turns candied and superficial. Here, the passion fruit serves as a fulcrum rather than a star, its tropical weight balanced by immortelle's herbal warmth in a pairing that earns its place in the top notes rather than decorating them. Then the heart notes arrive: castoreum, horsehair, rum, whiskey, wine. A cellar inventory, not a perfumer's checklist. Each material stacks atop the others, creating density through accumulation rather than harmony through balance.
The evolution
The opening announces itself with forest floor and hemp warmth, passion fruit cutting through like unexpected sunlight in deep shade. White frankincense follows within minutes, turning the sweetness toward smoke. The handoff to the heart phase brings castoreum forward, that animalic intensity that polarizes before it seduces. Horsehair and Choya Nakh add textural strangeness. Rum and whiskey create warmth that could read as comfort if the other materials let it. The drydown belongs to Laotian oud and vetiver absolute, deep, smoky, persistent. Burnt rubber appears here, deliberate and industrial, grounding everything that came before. French orris butter adds powdery violet, roasted cocoa brings bitter sweetness, white grape and mandarin zest close the composition with surprising brightness.
Cultural impact
Find Me - Wild Potion occupies distinct territory within the smoky-oud landscape. The Laotian oud and animalic base create something that refuses conventional balance, passion fruit cutting through the intensity with unexpected tropical brightness. Castoreum arrives with its polarizing animalic presence, supported by horsehair and Choya Nakh, while burnt rubber appears deliberately, industrial and grounding. The smoky-oud construction holds together through the full arc, each element accountable to the whole. This is fragrance as statement, work for those who seek out challenging compositions rather than crowd-pleasing comfort.
