The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
V Canto draws from Dante's Divine Comedy, translating the poem's vivid exploration of human passion into wearable form. Mirabile, the fifth fragrance in the collection, reflects on wonder and admiration, the capacity to find the extraordinary within experience. Perfumer Paolo Terenzi crafts this composition using vanilla and myrrh in the opening, milk and rum at the heart, and tonka bean with clove in the base, creating a rich and seductive portrait. The fragrance mirrors the poem's descent into layered emotional territory, inviting the wearer to explore depth.
Mirabile embodies a philosophy of embracing warmth and richness without restraint. The vanilla and myrrh establish a foundation of comfort, the milk and rum add creamy depth, and the tonka bean with clove ensures the fragrance lingers. This composition invites the wearer to explore indulgence, pairing naturally with soft textures and warm environments.
The evolution
The opening of Mirabile introduces vanilla and myrrh, their warm resinous qualities creating immediate comfort. Malt adds a subtle sweetness, grounding the composition before the heart arrives with milk and rum, their creamy and slightly boozy character softening the myrrh's edges. Davana and rose provide floral nuance while buchu adds aromatic complexity, with geranium and lavender balancing the richness. As the fragrance progresses, vanilla returns with tonka bean, their coumarin sweetness deepening the warmth while clove and patchouli provide lasting depth.
Cultural impact
V Canto emerged from the historic Cereria Terenzi Evelino perfumery, a family business rooted in Italian craft. The house name translates to song in Italian, and each fragrance title comes from Dante's Divine Comedy. Since its 2015 launch, the brand has built a following among collectors who appreciate its bold, uncompromising approach to niche perfumery. Mirabile exemplifies this philosophy, a scent that wields its narrative inspiration with confidence and artistic intent.
