The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Arkano Delle Stelle translates to 'Secrets of the Stars', a name pulled directly from Dante's celestial vocabulary. Paolo Terenzi designed this fragrance in 2024 as V Canto's exploration of the night sky's influence on human emotion: longing, mystery, the pull of the unknown. The fifth canto of the Divine Comedy deals in the politics of love and fate, Arkano delle Stelle takes that thematic territory and translates it into scent. Rose, magnolia, and lily of the valley build a garden that only exists after dark, when the moonlight changes everything.
The white floral heart is unusually dense here, four materials (Bulgarian rose, Italian magnolia, Japanese lily of the valley, Chinese jasmine grandiflorum) stacked without any of them fighting for territory. The lily of the valley is the quiet anchor that keeps the rose and magnolia from tipping into powder. Ambergris bridges the heart and base, adding a marine saltiness that lifts the florals skyward before the vanilla and patchouli ground them. It's the kind of composition that rewards patience, the ingredients aren't trying to announce themselves.
The evolution
The opening reads cool and precise, Calabrian bergamot and Italian lemon cutting through with citrus brightness, the Bulgarian rose arriving within minutes as a soft counterpoint. The heart develops over the first 30 minutes: magnolia and lily of the valley emerge together, the jasmine staying quieter in the background, with ambergris adding a salty, almost oceanic dimension that prevents the white florals from becoming heavy. By hour two, the base begins its slow arrival, Bourbon vanilla introduces warmth first, then the Indonesian teakwood and Singapore patchouli settle in, with African ebony providing a dark, woody undertone that gives the drydown its structure. The musk keeps everything close to the skin. On most skin types, expect 6-8 hours with moderate sillage, present enough to be noticed by someone standing beside you, not loud enough to announce your arrival before you enter the room. On fabric, the vanilla and patchouli drydown can persist into the following day.
Cultural impact
Arkano delle Stelle sits in the lineage of V Canto's literary-narrative approach, the 2024 release continues the house's exploration of emotional extremes through scent. The white floral density, balanced by marine ambergris and grounded by warm vanilla and patchouli, positions it as a fragrance for considered evening wear rather than casual daytime use. Wearers describe it as the scent of someone who doesn't need to announce themselves, present, intimate, and quietly confident.
