The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Ceremony of Tea & Petals arrived in 2025 from The Dua Brand, a house that has built its catalog around the idea that fine fragrance deserves thoughtful construction. Ceremony of Tea & Petals reads like that intention in liquid form. No fireworks, no theatrics. Just a careful pour of white tea and tuberose over a bed of vanilla and sandalwood, composed to feel expensive in the wrist-checking, quiet-luxury sense rather than the loud one. The opening runs cool, almost mineral, with cassis lending a sharp fruit edge that never tips into sweetness. White tea sits beneath it like steam curling off a porcelain cup, slightly bitter and faintly green. Then the florals arrive in waves.
What makes this composition worth a second look is the interplay between its two main players. White tea and cassis do the cold work up top, cooling the skin with something almost mineral. Then the middle layers in heavy with a full white floral brigade: tuberose, gardenia, ylang-ylang, orange blossom. Each one brings its own weight, and together they build a creamy, slightly indolic density that could easily tip into bridal territory. The vetiver threading through the heart pulls green and slightly bitter, anchoring all that sweetness with a cool, rooty edge.
The evolution
The first minutes are the coldest part. Blackcurrant opens with a tart, almost mentholated snap, white tea underneath it like steam rising off a porcelain cup. Bergamot rounds the edges just enough to keep the brightness from feeling sharp. Something faintly spiced hums below the surface, warming the composition from underneath without ever identifying itself. Then the petals arrive in force. Tuberose and orange blossom take over, and the fragrance shifts from cool and aqueous to dense and creamy. Gardenia adds a waxy, almost rubbery sweetness that gives the heart weight. The ylang-ylang pushes everything a touch tropical, but the vetiver holds the line, keeping it from drifting into sunscreen territory. The drydown is where the composition changes temperature again.
Cultural impact
Ceremony of Tea & Petals rewards a slower wearer, the kind of scent that asks for attention rather than demanding it. It sits firmly in the tea-forward floral category, with a composition that leans into white tea as a featured note rather than a background accent. The fragrance reads as a study in restraint, composed for someone who wants something that lasts a workday without announcing itself. The white florals do the heavy lifting in the heart, while the base keeps everything grounded with resinous warmth and creamy sandalwood.
