The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Launched in 2014, With Style arrived from perfumer Alexandra Carlin as a declaration. Not a reinvention of the house, but a recalibration, taking Sergio Tacchini's sport-heritage ease and distilling it into something younger, more immediate. The brief was optimism: the kind that comes from friendship and good moments, not the inherited kind. Carlin reached for red apple and mandarin orange to lead, that instant brightness, the energy of something new. Then she added rosemary, because an Italian fragrance earned on the court doesn't arrive without a little edge.
The structure is the thing. Fruity opening, herbal heart, woody base, it's a familiar arc, but Carlin plays with the transitions. The clary sage in the heart doesn't wait politely for the top notes to fade. It arrives alongside them, herbal and slightly bitter, pulling against the sweetness of the apple. The lavender keeps things smooth, but there's tension here. What sounds like a straightforward composition reveals itself as something with a point of view. The base, amber, sandalwood, musk, doesn't rush. It arrives quietly and stays, which is where the fragrance earns its name.
The evolution
The red apple opens sharp and clean. No hesitation. Mandarin orange adds brightness, and then the rosemary arrives, herbaceous, a little unexpected, pushing against the sweetness like a good argument. Fifteen minutes in, the clary sage enters the conversation. Herbal, slightly bitter, it changes the tone. The lavender smooths everything over, but the composition doesn't forget the pushback. By the second hour, the heart settles into place: aromatic, warm, still moving. The drydown takes its time. Sandalwood and amber build quietly, musk softens everything, and by hour three, the fragrance has become something close and intimate. Lasts four to six hours depending on skin. The final stretch is just sandalwood and skin, that clean, intimate closeness that lingers longest.
Cultural impact
With Style arrived in 2014 as an accessible entry point to the Sergio Tacchini fragrance world, targeting younger wearers seeking easy, optimistic scents without the weight of heritage masculine compositions. It occupies a space alongside other approachable Italian sportswear-lifestyle fragrances, versatile enough for daily wear, but with enough character to feel intentional.
