The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Sergio Tacchini launched Precious White in 2014 as the third instalment in the Precious collection, joining Precious Pink from 2009 and Precious Purple from 2012. Where the earlier bottles used saturated color as their anchor, white required a different approach. The answer arrived in the form of cool, juicy fruit against velvety florals. Perfumer Delphine Lebeau-Krowiakj built the composition around white rose carried by aquatic accords, placing juicy watermelon and pear at the opening to give the florals a bright, refreshing foundation. The result is a fragrance that feels transparent without being thin, feminine without being sweet.
The aquatic notes open the composition with a fresh, watery quality that gives the white rose and magnolia room to breathe. The fruity elements are balanced by the cool florals, preventing any excessive sweetness. The sandalwood and white musk base arrives to anchor everything in something creamy and close. The mahogany (palisander rosewood) in the base is a quieter choice than cedar or oud, adding warmth without weight, letting the white musk provide lingering softness. The composition trusts its simplicity: three fruits, two florals, three woods and musks. Nothing fights for attention.
The evolution
The opening hits bright and immediate, watermelon arrives first, sweet and watery, followed quickly by pear and white peach lending a soft juiciness. The aquatic notes cool the fruit down and create a smooth transition where the notes begin to merge rather than replace one another. The heart arrives: white rose and magnolia together, petals without thorns, creamy without being heavy. This is the fragrance's most distinctive phase, where the name makes sense. The base settles in, sandalwood and palisander rosewood adding warmth, white musk keeping everything close to the skin. The drydown is intimate, almost quiet, lingering softly on fabric.
Cultural impact
Precious White occupies the aquatic-floral category with watermelon giving it a juiciness most aquatics lack. The fragrance performs well in warm weather and informal settings, appealing to wearers who want something refreshing without the sharpness of citrus or the sweetness of tropical fruits. White rose and magnolia keep the composition grounded in classic florals while the fruity opening adds contemporary appeal.
