Heritage
A house, in its own words
Sergio Tacchini founded Sandys S.p.A. in 1966 after a successful career as a professional tennis player. The company quickly became known for bright, technically engineered sportswear that stood out on the international circuit. In the late 1970s the label rebranded under the founder’s name, reinforcing its Italian identity. The first fragrance bearing the brand’s name appeared in 1987, marking a shift from apparel to olfactory expression. A second major launch arrived in 1996 with Sergio Tacchini Uomo, an aromatic fruity eau de toilette created in partnership with Morris and Henkel Cosmetic; the formula highlighted olive flower and tomato leaf notes, a nod to Mediterranean flora. The early 2000s saw a modest expansion of the scent range, including Stile (2003) and Feel Good Man (2006). In 2021 the brand introduced Ocean's Club and Pacific Blue, modern compositions that reference coastal leisure. The following year the line added Pure Black and The Essence, while Bella Donna arrived in 2024 as the latest feminine offering. Throughout this period, Sergio Tacchini has relied on licensing agreements to manage production, most recently partnering with Desire Fragrances Inc. to develop and distribute new releases. This collaborative model preserves the original design ethos while granting the fragrance house access to specialized perfumery expertise.
The brand treats scent as an extension of sport and lifestyle, aiming to capture movement, light and colour in liquid form. It values authenticity, favouring ingredients that evoke the Mediterranean climate that shaped the founder’s upbringing. Rather than chasing trends, the house selects a limited palette of notes and lets them develop naturally, trusting the chemistry of the formula. The partnership model reflects a belief that specialised fragrance houses can translate the label’s visual language into aroma more precisely than an in‑house team. Sustainability appears in sourcing decisions; the brand prefers ingredients that can be traced to responsible farms in Italy and nearby regions. By keeping the portfolio focused, Sergio Tacchini maintains a clear narrative that links each bottle to the active, sun‑lit world of its origin.
