The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Sergio Tacchini launched Fantasy Forever in 2014, extending the brand's sport-heritage identity into a fragrance that reads like a held breath before something begins. The name is the clue, not a memory, not a place, but an imagined version of what could happen next. Fantasy Forever is about possibility, not recall. The 2014 release came during a period when the house was expanding its feminine offerings, testing how far an athletic brand could travel into romance without losing the clean lines that defined it. The brief, as the brand framed it, was a scent that captured the essence of romantic dreams, but the kind you chase, not the kind you sleep on.
What makes Fantasy Forever structurally unusual is the crystallised moss anchoring the base. Moss typically adds an earthy, mineral depth, the kind of smell that suggests damp stone and shade. Here it's been crystallised, which softens the texture into something almost powdery, bridging the gap between the fruity opening and the gourmand vanilla. The result is a fragrance that doesn't have sharp edges anywhere. Blueberry in a women's fragrance is also uncommon, it skews more typically toward fresh or masculine. Using it alongside wild rose and bergamot creates an opening that reads as bright but not juvenile, fruity but not juvenile.
The evolution
The opening hits sharp and fruity, blueberry and bergamot arrive together, the citrus cutting through the fruit just enough to keep things from cloying. Wild rose adds a floral softness that flirts with the blueberry without overwhelming it. This phase lasts about thirty minutes before the heart takes over. Sandalwood and jasmine arrive in the heart, turning the composition warmer and more intimate. The white cedar adds a clean woody structure that stops the jasmine from going indolic. By the second hour, the drydown begins its slow reveal. Vanilla emerges first, creamy and close, followed by the crystallised moss adding an earthy powder that softens everything that came before. Musk stays in the background, skin-close, extending the wear without projecting. On most skin types, expect four to six hours of wear with moderate sillage, present but not room-filling.
Cultural impact
Fantasy Forever arrived during the peak of the fruity-floral era when mass-market women's fragrances leaned heavily into accessible gourmand notes. Released by Sergio Tacchini, the Italian sport-heritage brand best known for tennis-inspired apparel, this scent represented a deliberate move into the lifestyle fragrance space rather than strictly athletic scents. The 2014 launch coincided with a market flooded with sweet, approachable women's fragrances, positioning Fantasy Forever among competitors targeting young professional women seeking everyday wearability.
