The beginning
Semi-Bespoke No. 25 arrived in 2019 from Roja Dove, a perfumer whose house was built on the principle that everyone deserves to smell extraordinary. The Semi-Bespoke collection marked a range of fragrances he created, aimed squarely at connoisseurs who wanted something complex, original, and unapologetically rich. Number 25 stands as a composition that throws caution, minimalism, and discretion out the window in a single spray. Roja designed it without compromise: aldehydes for sparkle, a heart stacked with the most expensive florals perfumery can buy, and a base loaded with leather, saffron, birch tar, and oud. The production was apparently discontinued, which makes what's still on shelves a closing chapter rather than an ongoing conversation.
What makes No. 25 structurally interesting isn't any single note but the sheer density of the heart stacked against the base. Aldehydes and mandarin at the top, then a floral heart that reads almost like a bouquet arrangement built from tuberose, rose, jasmine, orange blossom, and ylang, with heliotrope adding a powdery almond edge and apple offering a green snap. The base runs even deeper: leather and suede for animalic warmth, saffron and clove for spice, labdanum and benzoin for ambered sweetness, then birch tar, cypriol, oud, patchouli, sandalwood, and vanilla grounding it all.
The evolution

Mandarin offers a brief citrus flirtation, but it's the aldehydes doing the heavy lifting, creating that prickle of effervescence across the top. As the aldehydes pull back, the florals surge forward. This is where No. 25 reveals its true ambition: a dense floral heart built from tuberose, jasmine sambac, may rose, orange blossom, and ylang-ylang arriving in overlapping waves. Heliotrope adds a powdery, almost almond-like softness to the arrangement. Apple threads through unexpectedly, giving the bouquet a crisp, fruity snap that keeps it from collapsing into pure density. Eventually, the leather and saffron announce themselves. The leather here reads as polished, almost glove-soft rather than rough or smoky.
