The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Alberto Morillas and Carmita Magalhães created Glamour Nuit with cool, sparkling citrus top notes that open bright and inviting, gradually giving way to something warmer and deeper. The name says Nuit, French for night, and that is exactly the hour this fragrance lives for. Alberto Morillas brought classical chypre structure to the composition, while Carmita Magalhães contributed her perspective to the work. The result is neither purely one thing nor the other. It is a fragrance that weaves together different olfactory elements into a coherent whole, balancing brightness with depth and maintaining interest throughout its wear.
The note structure moves through distinct phases. Glamour Nuit opens with bergamot, mandarin orange, and pink pepper, a citrus combination that reads as cool and slightly sharp, then surrenders that sharpness to a heart of orchid, freesia, lily of the valley, and violet. Orchid is present here, adding a distinctive richness to the floral heart. Its presence contributes body to what might otherwise be a lighter floral arrangement. Vetiver, meanwhile, keeps the florals grounded, pulling the composition back toward earth before the drydown arrives.
The evolution
The opening arrives with citrus brightness. Bergamot and mandarin orange come first, sharp and sparkling, with neroli and pink pepper adding an aromatic lift that prevents the opening from feeling too clean. Orange blossom tempers the citrus just enough to keep it from being clinical. As time passes, the florals begin to assert themselves. Freesia and lily of the valley bring a dewy quality, while orchid adds weight beneath them, that tropical richness that gives the heart its distinctive character. The transition from opening to heart happens smoothly without harsh handover. Vetiver arrives to ground the florals, adding an earthy counterpoint that keeps the composition from floating away. As the drydown progresses, amber and sandalwood begin to assert themselves. Patchouli arrives more slowly, its earthy, slightly bitter character arriving last but staying longest.
Cultural impact
Glamour Nuit occupies a particular space in the O Boticário catalogue, a classical chypre-floral rendered with distinctive character. For a brand with diverse offerings, this release brought a more mature and structured approach to the collection. The composition attracted wearers who wanted chypre elegance without the assertiveness that sometimes comes with that structure. Alberto Morillas' involvement brought expertise to the house, while Carmita Magalhães ensured the result reflected a collaborative vision. This combination gave the fragrance a particular character that stands apart from other offerings in the line.
