The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Floratta Amor de Lavanda arrived in 2018 as part of O Boticário's long-running Floratta line. The brief seems to have been a straightforward one: take lavender and recast it as something tender and bright. The composition reads fougère on paper, but wears like a white floral dressed for a warm afternoon. Bergamot and green notes lift the entry, where mandarin adds a soft citric sweetness that rounds out the opening without sharpness. Then the lavender arrives, sweetened rather than sharpened, and the whole composition tilts toward a romantic register. There's something almost playful in how the lavender behaves here, behaving less like an herbal apothecary ingredient and more like something gathered from a sunlit garden just before noon.
What separates this from a standard lavender soliflore is the white-floral heart layered beneath it. Honeysuckle, jasmine, and lily of the valley crowd the lavender, pushing it away from its herbal roots and into something sunnier. The honeysuckle brings a dewy, nectar-like quality that sweetens the lavender without weighing it down. The jasmine adds a creamy indolic warmth at low volume, just enough to give the heart a fleshy dimension. Lily of the valley contributes that cool, watery green-floral shimmer that keeps everything lifted.
The evolution
The first ten minutes belong to the lavender and bergamot, reading cool and herbal but with a mandarin sweetness threading through. Green notes give it that just-cut stem impression, a little sharp at the edges. By the thirty-minute mark the white florals surface, and the fragrance shifts register. Honeysuckle brings a warm, almost nectar-like sweetness. Jasmine adds skin-like creaminess. Lily of the valley contributes a dewy, cool floral that keeps the composition from getting too syrupy. The iris underneath it all gives a powdery, slightly rooty foundation that grounds the bouquet. From the two-hour point on, the base takes over. Sandalwood and cedar give it a soft woody cradle. Vanilla smooths everything out, turning the floral heart into something warmer, almost skin-scent-like. Musk pulls it close. Patchouli adds just enough depth to prevent the drydown from feeling synthetic. On clothing the next morning, a faint trace of vanilla and sandalwood remains.
Cultural impact
Within O Boticário's Floratta line, Amor de Lavanda occupies a specific niche as the collection's lavender-driven option. The Floratta collection itself spans a range of floral profiles, from fruity florals to powdery roses to creamy vanillas, and Amor de Lavanda's addition of lavender to the established floral template gives it a slightly more aromatic character without abandoning the prettiness the line is known for. The fragrance reads as a bridge between the simplicity of a single-note floral and the more layered constructions found elsewhere in perfumery.
