The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Angel Intimate Star is a fragrance within the Angel family. The original Angel is a patchouli-forward scent. Intimate Star takes that patchouli character and pairs it with ethyl maltol, building on the composition of its predecessor. The name suggests a celestial quality similar to Angel, reimagined for wearability. It presents the house's signature intensity in a more restrained form.
The base features patchouli alongside Mexican chocolate and New Caledonian sandalwood, creating a warmer foundation than the original. The caramel and vanilla work together to soften the composition, adding roundness and depth. The honey note contributes a smooth quality to the heart. Blackberry and red berries introduce a fruity element that adds complexity to the overall structure. The result is a fragrance that maintains the Angel identity while offering a different character.
The evolution
The opening features citrus, with bergamot and mandarin delivering immediate freshness. Shortly after, cyclamen and white honey emerge, blending the brightness into something warmer. The heart includes berries and jasmine, where the fruit notes interact with the floral backdrop. The base brings patchouli tempered by caramel and vanilla, creating a different balance from the original Angel. The Mexican chocolate note remains present, settling close to the skin as the fragrance develops.
Cultural impact
As a limited edition within the Angel lineage, Intimate Star occupies a specific niche in the collection. It explores the house's signature composition in a softer register, presenting the Angel character without the original's intensity. The name itself hints at this approach: celestial notes reinterpreted for everyday wear. This variation demonstrates how a house can work within its own visual and olfactory language.
