The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Untamed Neroli arrived in 2024, composed by Clément Marx for Maison Nomad Noé. Its inspiration is direct and elemental: the rush of change, the freedom of moving beyond expectation. The name settles the framing. Neroli gives the composition its radiant opening, while the idea of being untamed keeps that brightness from becoming polished or predictable. The fragrance builds in clear layers, beginning with a lively citrus introduction before moving through incense, jasmine, and a soft musky close. Neroli, bergamot, and petitgrain create an immediate impression of light, green leaves, and clean citrus. Blood orange deepens the opening with a darker fruitiness, while jasmine brings a white floral pulse to the heart.
The interesting part is the contrast. Neroli, bergamot, and petitgrain bring immediate luminosity, but the heart doesn't remain purely fruity. Blood orange adds a darker, more tactile citrus note, while Somali frankincense introduces an impression of resinous depth and mineral coolness. Winter jasmine softens the structure with a white floral pulse. That progression gives the fragrance movement without making it ornate: bright opening, aromatic heart, then a skin-close finish where musk and ambrette take over.
The evolution
The opening arrives almost at once, a clean collision of neroli, bergamot, and petitgrain. Citrus flashes bright and green, then the sharper facets of petitgrain lend a leafy edge rather than a simple lemon shine. Blood orange enters next, adding color and a slightly bitter, fruitier warmth. Frankincense keeps the heart from becoming sweetness alone, bringing a cool resinous hush that makes the jasmine feel airier. Then the composition contracts. Jasmine becomes a soft white-floral memory, while ambrette, eugenol, musk, and solar notes form a quieter base with skin warmth and gentle spice. Over time, the initial citrus loses its sharp edges, but the combination remains coherent. The opening gradually settles into a warmer middle of jasmine, ambrette, and musk, while the leafy and bitter facets become less distinct.
Cultural impact
Untamed Neroli is a genderless citrus aromatic built around a clear progression of contrasting notes. Neroli, bergamot, and petitgrain create a bright, green opening, with blood orange adding deeper citrus character. Frankincense gives the heart a resinous quality, while jasmine introduces a soft white floral dimension. The base settles into musk, ambrette, eugenol, and solar notes, balancing the freshness of the opening with warmth and skin-close softness. Its appeal rests in the interplay of luminous citrus, leafy facets, restrained floral texture, and a quietly warm finish.
The House
Maison Nomad NoéMaison Nomad Noé is a fragrance house founded in New York City in 2019 by Corentin Hamon. The brand creates Eaux de Parfum and scented candles designed to capture life's most meaningful moments through scent. Operating as part of Forest, a family-run creative business based in East Dulwich, London, the house blends olfactory artistry with narrative storytelling. Their 2024 collection introduced five new fragrances: Meraki Cedar, Moonwake Tuberose, Untamed Neroli, Elysian Rose, and Prophetic Saffron, each crafted to evoke specific emotional landscapes and personal journeys. The brand occupies a distinctive position in the niche fragrance market by treating each creation as a vessel for memory and meaning rather than simply a luxury product.
