The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Elysian Rose arrived in 2024, composed by Clément Marx for Maison Nomad Noé. Its idea is visible in the structure: a traditional floral centerpiece made distinctly modern through fruit, citrus, and an earthy base. Rose de Mai, May rose, and Egyptian geranium bring the romantic register, while Italian bergamot and mandarin keep the opening lively. Red berries and raspberry sharpen the rose with tart, ruby-toned contrast. Beneath them sits a less decorative foundation of Cashmeran, Indian papyrus, and Haitian vetiver, giving the composition depth without pulling it away from its floral center.
What makes Elysian Rose compelling is the friction inside its familiar center. Roses can feel polished, powdered, or expected, but here they share space with bright citrus and sharply sweet berries. That opening brightness makes the floral heart feel active rather than static. The base then changes the temperature. Cashmeran supplies a soft, suede-like texture, papyrus introduces an earthy edge, and Haitian vetiver adds a dry green-rooted depth. The result is rose with structure: still expressive, but less candied than its fruit and floral notes might suggest.
The evolution
The first impression is quick and clean, with bergamot and mandarin lifting red berries into a bright, sparkling entrance. As that brightness settles, the rose accord comes forward. May rose gives the heart a powdery softness, Egyptian geranium adds a green aromatic edge, and raspberry keeps the fruitiness vivid rather than syrupy. The composition then takes a firmer turn. Cashmeran smooths the rose into something closer to worn suede, while Indian papyrus introduces an earthy, papery shadow. Haitian vetiver lingers with the clearest drydown presence, lending a mineral, rooted finish. By the final hours, the bright fruit has mostly receded, leaving rose, soft texture, and dry earth close to the skin.
Cultural impact
Elysian Rose offers a contemporary reading of rose through its fruit-and-vetiver structure, balancing softness with clarity. The floral heart brings a familiar sense of romance, while brighter fruit notes lend an energetic, modern edge. Earthy vetiver adds definition, making the composition feel polished without losing the central appeal of rose. As the fragrance develops, the opening brightness softens and the floral accord becomes more prominent, creating a gradual shift from lively and fresh to warm, balanced, and quietly distinctive.
The House
Maison Nomad NoéMaison Nomad Noé is a fragrance house founded in New York City in 2019 by Corentin Hamon. The brand creates Eaux de Parfum and scented candles designed to capture life's most meaningful moments through scent. Operating as part of Forest, a family-run creative business based in East Dulwich, London, the house blends olfactory artistry with narrative storytelling. Their 2024 collection introduced five new fragrances: Meraki Cedar, Moonwake Tuberose, Untamed Neroli, Elysian Rose, and Prophetic Saffron, each crafted to evoke specific emotional landscapes and personal journeys. The brand occupies a distinctive position in the niche fragrance market by treating each creation as a vessel for memory and meaning rather than simply a luxury product.
The Creator
Clément MarxMarx favors clarity and structure. His compositions tend to feel engineered, not in the mechanical sense, but in the sense of something designed to precise specifications.
