By Kilian's My Kind Of Love collection launched in 2018 as a lower-priced line designed to translate the house's signature opulence into something more accessible, but without sacrificing the provocation that makes the brand worth wearing. I Don't Need A Prince By My Side To Be A Princess was the declaration. Honorine Blanc, the perfumer tasked with making empowerment smell wearable, chose to build it around something unexpected: green tea and ginger, two notes that rarely anchor a gourmand composition. The idea was simple, power doesn't have to be heavy. It can be fresh, bright, and still carry warmth in its bones. Kilian Hennessy himself described it as a scent for fierce females, gourmand with a kick, and that kick is what keeps it from sliding into something too sweet to take seriously.
What makes this composition interesting is the way it refuses the obvious path. Gourmand fragrances typically lean into sugar, vanilla, and edible warmth from the start, this one earns it. The green tea and ginger arrive first, giving the fragrance a clear, spicy opening that reads almost medicinal before the sweetness arrives. The hedione amplifies the peach and jasmine in a way that keeps the heart bright and floral without going soapy. The evolution
The first five minutes belong to the lemon, sharp, clean, an announcement rather than an introduction. Then the green tea steps in, and with it, the ginger. The transition to the heart takes about fifteen minutes, and this is where the magic happens: the peach and jasmine arrive, but the ginger doesn't leave.
