The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The Angels' Share collection draws its name from the portion of cognac that evaporates from barrels during aging, traditionally claimed by angels. By Kilian channels Kilian Hennessy's cognac dynasty heritage, creating fragrances that capture the spirit of fine French brandy. With Angels' Share Paradis, perfumer Benoist Lapouza takes the collection's signature warmth and injects it with new life, using raspberry and rose to lift the familiar cognac foundation into something fresher and more playful while retaining its luxurious roots.
The note selection reflects a deliberate philosophy: pair the warmth of cognac with bright fruits and florals to create contrast, then anchor everything in woody, gourmand elements that feel cohesive rather than scattered. The rose and raspberry keep the cognac from feeling heavy, while the praline and tonka ensure the woody base never turns austere. It is a fragrance designed for those who appreciate the craft behind fine spirits but want something more versatile than a straight spirit interpretation.
The evolution
The journey begins with raspberry and cognac, a playful yet sophisticated opening that immediately signals a departure from the smoke-heavy originals in the line. As the fragrance develops, the rose introduces an unexpected elegance, softening the spirit-forward top notes into something almost romantic. The transition into the drydown marks the true evolution: oak and praline bring structure and indulgence, while sandalwood and vanilla create a creamy, lingering warmth that feels like the aftermath of a perfect evening.
Cultural impact
The original Angels' Share established By Kilian's credentials in the boozy, spirit-forward space. Paradis builds on that legacy, not replacing it, but offering an alternative. For wearers who found the original too aggressive, this version extends an invitation. It signals the brand's continued push into accessible luxury.
