The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The Facettes collection translates Korloff's jeweler's sensibility into emotional territory, each scent a different facet of desire. Charme Magnétique was designed to capture the pull of attraction itself: the moment when everything else fades and instinct takes over. Bergamot and pink pepper open the composition with bright immediacy, a citrus clarity that cuts through before softening into something more complex. The pink pepper adds a quiet warmth beneath the bergamot's sparkle, preventing it from becoming too sharp or fleeting. But the real work happens when the florals arrive. Tuberose commands attention with its creamy, slightly indolic presence, the kind of note that demands to be noticed whether you want it to be or not.
Tuberose sits alongside ylang-ylang and tonka bean, three materials that together create something greater than their individual parts. The ylang-ylang brings a waxy, tropical depth that enriches the tuberose without overwhelming it. Tonka bean softens the florals' edge, adding a sweet, vanillic warmth that smooths the composition and prevents it from becoming too sharp or linear. Praline in the base gives the white florals somewhere warm to land, a gourmand element that grounds the scent and keeps it from floating off into abstraction.
The evolution
The opening hits fast, bergamot's citrus clarity against pink pepper's quiet heat. No hesitation. The pink pepper adds an almost imperceptible spice that keeps the citrus from becoming too bright or one-dimensional. Within the first hour, tuberose takes over, revealing its true character: creamy, slightly indolic, with ylang-ylang amplifying the effect into something heady and tropical. The ylang-ylang brings a waxy, opulent depth that makes the white florals feel lush and enveloping rather than delicate. As the florals settle, tonka bean emerges, smoothing the composition into something warmer and less demanding, its sweet, vanillic quality tempering the tropical intensity. The drydown develops into a soft embrace of praline warmth, with vetiver providing an earthy counterpoint that keeps the sweetness grounded rather than synthetic.
Cultural impact
Part of Korloff's Facettes collection, Charme Magnétique stands out with its bold white florals and gourmand warmth. The composition centers on tuberose, a note that refuses subtlety in favor of presence, creating a scent that announces itself without apology. The praline and tonka bean in the base add a sweet, edible quality that tempers the tropical intensity of the florals, resulting in something that feels both opulent and approachable. Ylang-ylang amplifies the heady character of the tuberose, creating a lush, enveloping effect that lingers in the air.
