The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Korloff launched Un Soir à Paris in 2014, unveiling it at the TFWA expo in Cannes. The brief was simple: capture the romance of Paris through rose, rendered in the house's signature precision. Not a postcard version of the city, something with more weight. The brand had been translating the Korloff diamond's boldness into scent since 1996, and this fragrance was the next facet: the city's softer side, the side that happens after dark, when the architecture turns to shadow and the air smells like possibility.
What makes Un Soir à Paris interesting is its refusal to stay in one lane. The sweet-fruity heart, white peach, rose absolute, jasmine absolute, could have gone linear and forgettable. But the coriander in the opening adds a green, slightly spicy edge that stops it from becoming saccharine. And the marshmallow in the base, combined with patchouli, creates a powdery warmth that lasts well beyond what you'd expect from something this soft. It's sweet, but it's not naive.
The evolution
The opening hits bright and citrusy, bergamot and grapefruit with an aromatic lift from coriander that makes it feel alive, not just pleasant. Thirty minutes in, the heart takes over: rose absolute and white peach unfold together, soft and warm, while jasmine absolute adds a creamy depth that keeps the peach from smelling like a candle. The drydown is where this fragrance earns its reputation. Patchouli arrives earthy and grounded, wrapping around the marshmallow sweetness and tonka bean warmth. On most skin types, this phase lasts 6-8 hours, the fragrance doesn't just fade, it transforms, becoming a skin-close warmth that lingers like a memory.
Cultural impact
Un Soir à Paris sits in the sweet-fruity corner of the oriental-floral family, a romantic, powdery composition with enough patchouli to give it depth. It's the kind of fragrance that appeals to someone who wants to smell like a memory of Paris, not a tourist's checklist. Moderate sillage means it dresses the wearer more than the room, which suits its intimate character. The Korloff house positions this as accessible luxury, precision fragrance without the jewelry price tag, for the collector who approaches scent with a jeweler's eye.
