Why it exists.
The beginning
JPG released this limited summer edition in 2014 alongside Le Male Summer and Le Beau Male Summer. The trio arrived in those now-iconic torso flacons, but this one came dressed differently. Mermaids, coral, pearl shells, starfish. The whole seashore mythology printed on glass. Summer-fragrance positioning in JPG's world has always been about taking something bold and making it luminous. The house doesn't do subtle, but summer calls for a different kind of confidence. This was the answer: a Classique that smelled like a long afternoon instead of a midnight entrance.
What makes this interesting is the structural choice. Most summer flankers strip down to citrus and call it done. This one kept the vanilla-amber-musky base that defines Classique's identity, then built upward with enough citrus and white floral to feel sunlit. White iris appears in the heart alongside jasmine sambac, ylang-ylang, and lily of the valley. That iris note is doing real work here. It's powdery, slightly rooty, and it stops the florals from becoming just another sweet mess. Combined with the ylang-ylang's tropical weight and the jasmine's headiness, the heart has real complexity for a summer fragrance.
The evolution
The opening hits immediately with a burst of mandarin, clementine, and lemon. Bright, sparkling, almost effervescent. Orange blossom weaves in quickly, adding its waxy-floral quality. The rose takes longer to show itself, but when it does, it adds a quiet petal sweetness that stops the citrus from becoming just rind. Twenty minutes in, the heart begins. Jasmine sambac and ylang-ylang arrive together, warm and tropical. White iris smooths everything into powdery elegance. The lily of the valley adds a brief green moment before it fades. By the hour mark, the drydown establishes itself. Vanilla absolute leads, amber underneath, musk in the background holding everything close. This is the payoff. Not a dramatic transformation. A settling into warmth. The fragrance becomes intimate, skin-warm, present without projecting. On fabric, it lasts longer. On skin, expect three to four hours of the base before it quietly disappears.

Classique Summer Edition 2014 represents JPG's signature flanker strategy, reusing the iconic torso bottle as a canvas for seasonal reinvention. The mermaid and shell artwork distinguishes it visually from the 1993 original, making it a collectible piece for JPG enthusiasts.
