The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Finale takes its name from Berlin's iconic stages, those places where avant-garde collides with classical elegance and passion meets boundless creativity. Inspired by the moment a performance reaches its climax, this fragrance captures what it feels like when everything comes together at once. Perfumer Véronique Nyberg built it as an olfactory standing ovation: the kind you give when something genuinely moves you.
The combination of tobacco and datura in the heart is unusual, datura brings a quiet, almost narcotic floralcy that threads through the tobacco's warmth without overwhelming it. Benzoin then steps in with its resinous sweetness, creating a bridge between the opening's fruity brightness and the base's woody depth. What emerges is a fragrance that moves fluidly through its phases, never jarring, always intentional.
The evolution
Finale opens with nectarine taking center stage, soft, almost velvet-like, with pink pepper providing just enough counterweight to prevent it from becoming saccharine. Davana adds a subtle herbal quality that keeps things grounded. Within the first hour, the tobacco emerges, gaining strength as the fruit begins to recede. By the second hour, the datura's quiet floralcy weaves through the tobacco, creating something warmer and more complex. The benzoin arrives next, adding a soft, almost powdery sweetness that tempers the tobacco's earthiness without softening it entirely. By the third hour, the guaiac wood and vetiver take over, their smoky, woody depth anchoring everything that came before. The drydown is intimate, close to the skin, lingering for hours, the kind of presence that someone standing very near you will notice before you say a word.
Cultural impact
Finale lands in a space where sweet and smoky coexist without compromise, an increasingly rare thing in a market that often chooses one side. The tobacco-benzoin pairing draws wearers who want warmth with complexity, something that announces itself without screaming. It's the kind of fragrance that attracts people who've worn enough niche to know what they like, and know that they like this.
