The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Iconica by Helan was conceived as a tribute to the rose in its most expressive forms. The line centers on Damask rose and Tea Rose together, a pairing that reflects a desire to show two facets of the same flower family: the opulent, almost intoxicating side and the lighter, garden-fresh side. The composition itself reads as a study in transparency, with each rose type registering clearly on the skin rather than dissolving into a generic floral wash. On application, the two roses open with a brightness that recalls petals just brushed with dew, the Damask lending a deeper, more honeyed warmth while the Tea Rose contributes a cooler, almost aqueous lift.
The character of Iconica depends on the interplay between its two named rose notes, and the fragrance wears in a way that keeps that conversation active across the day. When the Damask rose registers strongly in the opening minutes, the scent moves toward a warmer, more traditional floral territory, rich and full in a way that feels almost like pressing a bouquet to the face. When the Tea Rose takes a more prominent role, the same composition feels lighter, cooler, and closer to a garden after rain, with a green edge that prevents the rose from feeling heavy.
The evolution
Iconica's character rests on the duality of Damask rose and Tea Rose, and that contrast shapes everything about how it wears. The fragrance opens with a clear floral-fresh impression, where the Tea Rose lends a cool, almost aqueous brightness and the Damask adds a layer of warmer, more rounded rose character just beneath. Within the first few minutes, the two begin to negotiate, and the scent reads as a layered bouquet rather than a single rose impression. The Tea Rose keeps a green, petal-like lift running through the composition, while the Damask grounds it with a deeper, slightly honeyed warmth that gives the fragrance its body. As the hours pass, the Damask softens and becomes more velvety, settling into the skin with a gentle warmth, while traces of the Tea Rose's greener character remain audible in the background.
Cultural impact
Rose has long held a central place in fragrance culture, valued for its ability to carry both emotional weight and compositional complexity. Iconica contributes to that conversation by placing two distinct rose types, Damask and Tea Rose, at the center of the composition rather than layering them into a broader floral arrangement. The Damask brings a fuller, more traditional warmth, while the Tea Rose introduces a fresher, greener facet that shifts the fragrance away from the denser, more candied territory rose can sometimes occupy.
