The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
FicoPop belongs to Helan's I Sorbetti collection, a line that takes Italian frozen desserts and translates them into fragrance. The concept started with the question: what would a fig and watermelon sorbet smell like? Not the sweet, synthetic versions found in mainstream products, but the real thing, the kind you'd find at an Italian gelateria on a hot day. Helan worked with fig milk and watermelon water to capture that balance of juicy refreshment and creamy sweetness. The result is a fragrance that feels both nostalgic and modern, like a memory of summer captured in a bottle.
What makes FicoPop work is the way it handles contrast. Watermelon is inherently aquatic, that fresh, almost metallic wateriness, while fig milk brings a creamy, almost lactonic depth. These two shouldn't work together, but they do, because the fig leaf bridges them with its green, slightly herbal quality. It's the same principle as a sorbet: the sweetness is balanced by the chill, the fruit by the ice. Helan understood this and built the fragrance around that tension.
The evolution
The opening is all about contrast. Watermelon water hits first, that mineral, almost metallic freshness, followed immediately by fig leaf, which adds a green, slightly herbal counterpoint. It's the scent of a fruit bowl on a hot day. Within minutes, the fig milk emerges, softening everything into a creamy sweetness. The jasmine and peach blossom arrive next, adding a floral layer that's subtle but present, more suggestive than assertive. By the heart, the fragrance has settled into something warm and slightly gourmand, with honey and amber providing a base that feels both comforting and sophisticated. The drydown is where FicoPop truly shines. The honey lingers longest, wrapped in amber and musk, creating a warmth that stays close to the skin for hours. It's the kind of fragrance that someone notices when they're standing close, intimate, not loud.
Cultural impact
FicoPop represents Helan's continued exploration of Italian culinary traditions in fragrance. The lactonic, fruity-floral profile appeals to those seeking something fresh and sweet without being overly synthetic. By translating the concept of frozen desserts into wearable form, Helan offers a sensory experience rooted in Mediterranean summer memories.
