The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Rose Oudh arrived in 2021 from Indian perfumer Tausif Shaikh. The composition brings together rose and oud, two instantly recognizable materials in the fragrance wardrobe. Damask rose contributes a floral character, while Indian oud and agarwood introduce resinous, woody notes. Together with the listed rose, oud, and agarwood materials, they establish the composition’s floral, woody, resinous, and spice-oriented profile. Spiced warmth appears at the edge of the note list, alongside notes that give the fragrance a layered character from the first impression onward.
The interesting part is what happens between the materials. Geranium is listed alongside rose, while ginger, cloves, and saffron add further spice notes to the composition. Cashmere wood contributes a material associated with a woven texture in the note list, and oakmoss, leather, and oud bring additional woody, mossy, and textured dimensions. The base broadens the palette with Mysore sandalwood, ambergris, natural musk, amber, vanilla, and woody notes. Together, these materials create a composition that moves between floral, woody, resinous, spicy, mossy, and soft tonalities.
The evolution
Rose Oudh begins with a floral and woody profile built around Indian damask rose, geranium, cloves, and cashmere wood. The listed materials bring together rose, green, spice, and wood references, giving the first impression of petals, stems, polished wood, and spice. As the composition develops, rose remains part of the central structure alongside oud, ginger, saffron, lily of the valley, and oakmoss. The inclusion of oud gives the composition a resinous and woody dimension, while ginger, saffron, cloves, and lily of the valley add further spice and floral notes. The base includes leather, amber, ambergris, Mysore sandalwood, vanilla, natural musk, and woody notes. These materials extend the composition beyond the initial rose profile, creating a layered floral-woody presentation with spice, resin, moss, leather, wood, amber, musk, and vanilla elements.
Cultural impact
Rose Oudh places rose and oud within a floral-woody composition that also includes geranium, ginger, cloves, saffron, cashmere wood, oakmoss, leather, lily of the valley, Mysore sandalwood, ambergris, natural musk, amber, vanilla, and woody notes. Its note profile connects floral materials with woods, resins, spice, moss, leather, amber, musk, and vanilla, offering a detailed composition for discovery. The combination presents several familiar fragrance families in one release and invites attention to how rose and oud sit alongside the supporting materials.

The Creator
Tausif ShaikhShaikh works as an independent blender, leaning on the resources of a small studio rather than a corporate lab. His compositions show patience in the opening, often easing in rather than announcing themselves, and reward extended wear with soft, layered drydowns.
