The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Tobacco Vanilla was launched in 2020 by HeavenDuft, with Tausif Shaikh as the perfumer behind it. The composition places tobacco blossom at the center of its identity, pairing that floral warmth with cacao pod, tonka bean and vanilla. Spicy notes lead the opening, while dried fruits and woody notes give the fragrance a deeper foundation. It’s a gourmand idea built with restraint in the middle, where tobacco keeps the sweetness from becoming simple. The result feels made for slow evenings, familiar rooms and the kind of scent that stays close without asking for attention.
The unusual part is the contrast inside the name. Vanilla brings cream and dessert, while tobacco brings dryness, weight and a faintly smoky edge. Cacao pod deepens that sweet-to-dark turn, and tonka bean adds a warm, almond-like richness. Spicy notes keep the opening from sitting still. The composition’s character comes from this friction: something comforting enough for a close, quiet moment, but layered enough to feel more grown-up than straightforwardly sugary.
The evolution
Tobacco Vanilla begins with tobacco and warm spice, giving the first impression a soft edge and a little tension. As the scent settles, tobacco blossom becomes clearer alongside the creamy warmth of vanilla. Cacao pod and tonka bean add a darker, dessert-like center, making the heart feel both plush and grounded. In the drydown, dried fruits and woody notes take over, carrying a quieter, more textured sweetness. The result is a fragrance that moves from gentle spice to intimate gourmand warmth, then settles into a soft woody trail that can linger for roughly 4-6 hours on skin.
Cultural impact
HeavenDuft’s independent Indian identity gives Tobacco Vanilla a context outside mass luxury perfume. It sits within a small-batch culture where intimate, handcrafted compositions are valued for personal character rather than spectacle, and its unisex profile suits fragrance lovers who want a sweet tobacco scent with a darker, woody finish.
The House
HeavenDuftHeavenDuft is an independent Indian perfume house based in India, founded by perfumer Tausif Iqbal Shaikh (also known as Tosif Sheikh). Operating as a small-batch, one-person atelier, the brand produces niche fragrances, attars, and extrait de parfum crafted by hand. Its catalog spans a wide range of styles, from tobacco-led gourmands like Tobacco Vanilla (2020) to musky compositions such as Dignified Musk (2020), as well as spice-driven and aquatic profiles including Royal Cinnamon (2021), Khus (2021), Blue (2020), and Avent+ (2020). HeavenDuft ships worldwide and maintains an active presence through social media, where the founder personally shares insights into his creative process and lab work.
The Creator
Tausif ShaikhShaikh works as an independent blender, leaning on the resources of a small studio rather than a corporate lab. His compositions show patience in the opening, often easing in rather than announcing themselves, and reward extended wear with soft, layered drydowns.
