The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Eccentric arrived in 2023 from Franck Boclet. The Rock & Riot Black collection where Eccentric lives offers a range of scents. Eccentric is creamy, gourmand, powdery, a fruity-floral composition from perfumer Sidonie Lancesseur that presents a softer direction. The fragrance offers a gentler approach, inviting attention rather than demanding it.
The heart of this fragrance features an orris-cherry pairing. Orris root brings powdery violet and a waxy texture. Burlat cherry adds sweet fruitiness. The combination prevents the sweetness from becoming overwhelming. Star anise appears at the opening, threading a faint anis quality through the composition that adds complexity to the gourmand notes.
The evolution
The opening announces itself immediately. Star anise brings its anis quality, with bergamot and mandarin orange providing citrus brightness that catches the light before the fruit takes over. The citrus adds a sparkling element. Then, gradually, cherry arrives, warm and sweet. The orris follows, powdery and elegant, smoothing the transition from fruit to something more refined. The drydown features vanilla and Nepalese sandalwood settling close to the skin, creamy and woody without heaviness. Musk adds warmth without animalic force. The sillage stays intimate, not announcing. The best comparison is the last hour of a good night: everything has settled, the edges have softened, and what's left is comfortable and warm.
Cultural impact
Eccentric stands apart in the Rock & Riot Black collection, with a sweeter, powderier character. The fragrance offers something memorable without being difficult. Not mass-market safe, but not confrontational either. A quiet kind of confidence.
