The name Sà di Bacio comes from Italian, drawn from a poem by the Roman poet Catullus, whose verses counted kisses by the thousand and refused to stop. Stefania Marzufero Boni, the perfumer behind Zeromolecole, built Sà di Bacio around that obsessive tenderness. Released in 2023, the fragrance treats the kiss as something you can almost taste: the delicate cherry, hinted at rather than announced, the faint bitter edge of almond threading through it, the hush of incense settling into a quiet room. Boni composes the scent with a clear central image in mind, and every element serves that picture. What remains is an intimate portrait of closeness, composed rather than described, where restraint does as much work as abundance. The cherry does not announce itself with syrup or confection.
What makes this composition unusual is the restraint around its sweet notes. Black cherry in Sà di Bacio sits under frankincense and almond, a fruit placed carefully into the composition rather than poured in. The cherry reads almost edible, but it never crosses into full gourmand territory because the resins and incense keep pulling it back. On skin, Sà di Bacio opens with a bright, almost mineral Ambroxan alongside magnolia, a clean lift that doesn't linger long before the cherry arrives. Not the candied cherry of youth fragrances, but something denser, closer to stewed fruit in a copper pot, fruit reduced slowly until what remains is flavor and memory rather than water and sugar. Almond threads through it from early on, adding a faintly bitter, skin-like quality that softens the sweetness without dulling it, pulling the cherry toward something more savory, more adult.
