Rose Absolute Oil

Rose de mai carries a distinctive character that sets it apart from many other rose expressions. The evolution

The opening is deceptively cool. Bergamot and tangerine arrive with a sharp, citric brightness, sliced thin and tossed over a faintly herbal undertow. For the first few minutes, the composition plays like a cologne rather than a full rose statement, and that lightness is part of the trick. Then the May rose walks in, not as a wallop but as a slow unfurling, petal by petal, supported by geranium leaf that makes the whole thing smell like a garden right after rain. Freesia and lily of the valley soften the heart, their pale sweetness threading between the green stems and the deepening rose. Orchid adds a creamy, almost waxy smoothness that rounds the edges without blurring them. An hour in, the florals begin to hand off to the base. Patchouli gives it earth, sandalwood warms the floor, and the overall impression shifts toward something quieter and more grounded.
