The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Chopard approached Love Chopard with the same precision that defines its jewelry and timepiece collections. The house tasked Alberto Morillas, a perfumer known for his mastery of floral compositions, with translating this heritage into scent. The result is a fragrance that carries a trace of the brand's elegance while speaking in a modern romantic dialect. The brief centered on rose pushed to its furthest extension, and Morillas delivered by selecting six rose varieties positioned across the pyramid, ensuring the note evolves continuously from start to finish.
The philosophy behind Love Chopard centers on rose as a versatile ingredient capable of transformation. Mandarin and pink pepper elevate the opening, making it feel modern rather than dated. Bulgarian and Moroccan roses bring authenticity and depth to the heart. The drydown adds brown sugar and cocoa to create a sweetness that pairs beautifully with the woody foundation, resulting in a fragrance that feels cohesive across all phases.
The evolution
Love Chopard begins with mandarin orange zest and pink pepper delivering an immediate sparkle. Violet and cinnamon add complexity before Bulgarian damask rose and Moroccan centifolia absolute claim the spotlight. Orange blossom and jasmine deepen the floral heart into something almost intoxicating. As time passes, patchouli, cedarwood, and sandalwood ground the composition while brown sugar, cocoa, honey, tonka bean, and vanilla create a gourmand warmth that transforms the rose into something entirely new in the drydown.
Cultural impact
Love Chopard lands in a crowded rose category with an argument for excess. Six rose varieties is a statement of intent, not a quiet composition but an all-in bet on a single note taken as far as it can go. The addition of brown sugar, cocoa and honey pulls it away from classical rose waters and into gourmand territory. The effect feels modern and unapologetic, a rose that refuses to play by traditional rules. Where many rose fragrances aim for elegance and restraint, this one leans into abundance, layering sweet and floral elements to create something that feels both rich and approachable.
