The beginning
The Chloe Nomade woman has always been a question mark, where she's going, when she'll be back, whether she knows herself. Nomade Absolu is Chloe's answer to the idea of intensifying that restlessness. Released in 2020 from perfumer Quentin Bisch, the Absolu concentration amplifies the original Nomade's chypre-fruity character into something more persistent. Not louder, longer. Bisch worked with the oakmoss-davana heart as the structural anchor, letting mirabelle plum introduce the wearer before the composition settles into its true identity. It's the fragrance of someone who leaves, but always comes back wearing the same thing.
Oakmoss has become rare in modern perfumery, restricted, expensive, harder to source than it was a decade ago. Its presence here isn't nostalgia. It's a statement. Davana adds an aromatic, slightly medicinal edge that most fruity fragrances avoid entirely, preferring to stay polished. Together, these two heart notes create a chypre structure that most flankers in this price range simply don't bother with. The result is a fragrance that smells like it took longer to make than it did, like something had to settle before it was finished.
The evolution
The opening is all mirabelle, but it's not the clean plum of other fragrances. There's a fermented quality, like the fruit was picked at peak ripeness and left in the sun for an hour. Rich, almost syrupy. Then davana arrives with its herbal, slightly bitter edge, and the composition tilts. The sweetness doesn't disappear, it deepens, becoming warmer, less obvious. Three hours in, the oakmoss has fully established itself. That's when the fragrance becomes what it is: earthy, grounded, quietly complex. The sandalwood arrives last, settling under everything like a foundation. On fabric, the drydown becomes almost powdery, soft, intimate, the kind of warmth you find in a sweater worn three times. The next morning, there's still something there. Not the fruit. The moss.
