The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Berlin Soul was born from the city's nocturnal pulse in 2017. The aim was to capture the energy of those late-night moments when the bass drops. Smoke drifts through the air, mingling with the warmth of whiskey. Hazelnut adds a roasted, nutty richness that grounds the composition. This fragrance doesn't romanticize Berlin's underground, it translates it directly into something you can wear.
Hazelnut opens with unexpected depth. Not the typical nutty sweetness, but something roasted, almost edible, imagine walking into a bar where the bartender is already pouring. The whiskey note arrives warm and slightly sweet, like amber catching light. Then cedar takes command. It anchors the fragrance in something darker, woodier, more atmospheric. Sandalwood adds creaminess while iris brings a powdery counterpoint that keeps the woods from becoming too heavy.
The evolution
The opening hits immediately, hazelnut's roasted warmth followed by whiskey's amber glow. Cedar and sandalwood dominate the heart, their woody warmth weaving together as tobacco grows more pronounced. The oud emerges to add resinous depth alongside vetiver's earthy edge. Iris lingers as a quiet powdery thread through the darker woods, softening the composition. The drydown settles into something close, warm, and smoky, musk and tonka bean creating a skin-like quality that lingers.
Cultural impact
Berlin Soul captures something specific: the underground energy of late-2010s Berlin, the bold and unapologetic character of the city itself. This is the scent of a city that doesn't apologize for being itself. It turns the bold and unapologetic into something you can wear.
