The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
My Magic arrived in 2021 from Attar Al Has, the Turkish niche house founded that same year by two friends with roughly 25 years of combined experience in fragrance formulation and raw-material sourcing. The brand's approach starts with a single material and builds outward, and My Magic is no exception. Here, the core material is amber: warm, resinous, and undeniably seductive. Perfumer Mohammad Tammam Mando constructed the fragrance around this golden resin, weaving sugar and vanilla into the heart to amplify its gourmand character without tipping into confectionery territory.
The note structure is unusually cohesive for a fragrance built on sweetness. Most oriental florals open bright and fade flat, but My Magic layers its materials so that each phase reinforces the one before it. The aquatic and lemon top notes provide a brief, bracing opening before the rose-sugar heart takes over, and that heart doesn't fade so much as deepen, bleeding into the amber and vanilla base until the three feel like a single continuous note. The inclusion of oud in the base is notable: not the barnyard oud of aggressive leather scents, but a quieter, resinous wood that adds weight without demanding attention.
The evolution
The opening is the shortest chapter, 30 minutes at most. Aquatic freshness and lemon arrive first, sharp and clean, before osmanthus and woody notes soften the edges. Then the rose-sugar heart takes the stage. It's not a delicate rose; it's sweeter, rounder, almost caramelized, with vanilla absolute amplifying the gourmand quality. This is the fragrance's most distinctive phase: warm, floral, and unapologetically sweet. The drydown is where things get interesting. Amber and white musk anchor everything that came before, while cedarwood and oud introduce a darker, resinous quality that prevents the sweetness from becoming cloying. Patchouli adds earthiness at the very end. On fabric, this fragrance lasts well beyond 10 hours. On skin, expect a solid 8-10 hours with moderate sillage that announces itself in close quarters without overwhelming a room.
Cultural impact
My Magic arrived during a period when Turkish niche perfumery was gaining international recognition, representing a new wave of Middle Eastern fragrance houses competing with traditional European luxury brands. The fragrance taps into the global gourmand trend that has dominated the market since the late 2010s, where sweet, edible compositions became status symbols. Its emphasis on sugared rose and vanilla reflects a shift toward opulent, unapologetically sweet scents that appeal to younger demographics seeking distinctive personal signatures. The 2021 launch coincided with a time when consumers increasingly valued bold, long-lasting projections over subtlety, making My Magic a timely entry into the niche market.
