Oud Blanc.

Anne Flipo designed Oud Blanc for the Collection Extraordinaire line, Van Cleef & Arpels's space for compositions that treat scent as a jewel-worthy object. The brief was simple on paper: take oud, the material most associated with darkness and smoke, and make it glow. The answer was in the name itself. "Blanc", white, is the reframing. Where oud usually goes dense and brooding, this version softens it with vanilla cream, white musk, and a date accord that arrives sweet and modern before the incense and wood settle in. It's oud reimagined for someone who wants the depth without the weight.

The real innovation sits in the base. White musk and vanilla don't just support the oud, they create luminosity around it. The contrast between that soft glow and the smoky depth is where Oud Blanc lives. It's the duality the brand describes: light and shadow in the same bottle. That balance requires precision, too much vanilla and it becomes dessert; too little and the oud tips into darkness. The frankincense and Turkish rose absolute hold the middle ground, keeping the composition warm but not sugary, spiritual but not aggressive. This is oud translated into something you can wear in daylight without feeling like you're cosplaying the night.
