Why it exists.
The beginning
Seven Seas arrived in 2018 as Alexandria Fragrances' answer to a specific question: what does adventure smell like when it's also wearable? Perfumer Hany Hafez built this around an aromatic backbone, lavender, mint, and vetiver grounded by sandalwood and patchouli, that gives the composition real structure beneath the initial citrus burst. The name suggests open water and long passages, but the juice itself stays practical. It opens bold and keeps its composure.
The note architecture earns attention. Pink pepper appears in both top and heart, a continuity thread that keeps the opening connected to the drydown without feeling repetitive. Mint in the heart does what mint does: it cools the rose that arrives alongside it, keeping that middle phase from tipping into something too floral. The result is a fragrance that stays aromatic without ever becoming one-note, moving through distinct phases without losing coherence. That's harder to build than it sounds.
The evolution
The opening salvo arrives sharp and immediate, bergamot, lemon, and pink pepper hitting skin within seconds. No hesitation. The citrus is bright and the pepper brings just enough bite to keep it interesting. Within five to ten minutes the mint takes over the heart, supported by Bulgarian rose that adds a soft, slightly spicy floral note without overpowering the green coolness. An hour in, the drydown shifts the balance entirely. Lavender softens the mint's edge while sandalwood, vetiver, and patchouli ground the composition into something warm, clean, and woody. The sillage settles to moderate projection that stays close to the skin through the evening.
