The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Hany Hafez designed Hafez Gold to evoke the world of ancient Egyptian royalty, the tombs where pharaohs were interred with gold and frankincense. Released in 2019 as a Parfum Extract concentration, the fragrance carries that ancient atmosphere: frankincense and incense open the composition, cinnamon adds warmth, and vanilla brings unexpected sweetness to the formula. Sandalwood and amber anchor everything, creating a scent that feels less like history and more like wearing it.
Frankincense and incense form the sacred smoke. Cinnamon bridges the gap between ritual and intimacy. Vanilla softens the edges without diluting them. Sandalwood and amber provide the base, giving the fragrance a woody-balsamic foundation that supports the softer notes. The blend creates something memorable.
The evolution
The opening is smoke first. Frankincense and incense arrive together, dense and aromatic, filling the space around you before settling into warm skin. Cinnamon cuts through next, warm and woody, a reminder that spice exists here. Then the vanilla emerges, creamy and balsamic, taking over the heart phase without erasing what came before. Sandalwood anchors everything in the drydown. Amber adds a faint resinous glow.
Cultural impact
Hafez Gold is warm, smoky, and sweet without being cloying. The fragrance draws from Egyptian heritage, with incense and vanilla notes that appeal to those who want oriental depth. It attracts fragrance collectors looking for something distinctive and newcomers drawn to its narrative. The blend creates something memorable.
